Oil tank cut out

Posted: July 18, 2015 in 1960s BSA Hardtail

Stopped by our friend Wayne’s house and cut out all the pieces we need for the oil tank.  We just have to weld it up and get all the holes in it that we need for the oil lines and fills.  Wayne smoothed them out for me after we got them cut out, too!

Got pretty much all of the rear brake linkage mocked in place and operating.  It will need to be cleaned up, but it works very smoothly.  When the brake pedal is pressed, it will twist the rod that goes across the frame to activate the master cylinder.  It works very well, and once cleaned up it should be great!

Rear brake pedal

Fabbed up a brake pedal for the bobber.  It is actually two pedals with one end flipped upside down.  Then the actually part the foot rests on was cut of and flipped around.  Looks pretty nice!

Seat on and motor mock

Posted: March 28, 2015 in 1960s BSA Hardtail

An update of pics from a little while ago.  Used a leafspring for the seat suspension on the bobber, which holds up very well when bouncing on it.  Have to clean it up still, but it works very well.  Also got a shot of a mock with the motor in the frame.

Footpegs mounted

Used some old footpegs off a Suzuki GS550.  Had to make spacers for one of the mounting holes, and the let side peg had to be cut off and readjusted, but they work pretty well!

Sludge trap out

Posted: January 27, 2015 in 1960s BSA Hardtail

Got the sludge trap out of the BSA motor.  It took a lot of doing, as it looks like it was never taken off before.  Had to drill a hole into the bolt and use that to get something in there for leverage to turn it.  Then, the inside of just that came out a bunch of crud.  TO get the trap out itself, we had to use a tap to tighten down inside the trap, then slowly pry it out.  The trap is completely full with rock hard crap.  Good thing we took it out!

We are going to post less progress on this bike, since we want to reveal it in the same was as the RD at the NEAM show…but here is a quick pick of Sonny modding the frame a bit for reasons…
